The pandemic has robbed us of our most important element in life: human contact.
We need art around us to talk to each other, laugh, cry and experience things together.
After the isolation of Covid-19, we desperately need art because we need each other and art gives us a unique way to share our experiences about art, to laugh through it or to escape into it.
Art is storytelling. We use art and storytelling as medicine and to heal. This is how we survive together in society. We know that art has a positive impact on health and well-being, and also brings us constant joy, whether it's artist, participant or audience. Great art tells our story and reminds us of the importance of the human experience — and this will be an essential part of our recovery.
Art is the way we give meaning to change that is forced upon us, so we need great art more than ever. Great art makes us feel the world in our blood and sin. It's how we rehearse our possible future and get under someone else's skin.
If the world is too complex to fully control, art gives us the chance to cling to something. It is a contemplation with our pens and brushes, with our words and bodies.
I would like to open the conversation to talk about art with you. What do you think about art, what does it make you feel? What kind of art do you love and do you know why?
